Okay, can we just talk about how AMAZING Selena Gomez is?! I've been a fan of hers since I was little (any other Wizards of Waverly Place fans?). I was actually such a big fan of the show, I had a birthday party where my friends and I watched episodes of it while eating subs, since they had a sub shop in the show... get it? Yeah, you could definitely say I helped contribute to the shows success. Where's my check at Disney Channel?
Just recently, I started listening to her music again. I can say that not only are her songs honest and inspiring but they're extremely underrated! When I realized I wanted to start making healthier lifestyle choices, I would listen to her song "Rare" to help motivate me to love myself at all stages of the process. In one of my current favorites entitled, "Boyfriend", Selena sings about wanting a boyfriend but how a boyfriend is a want, not a need. Sometimes it's easy to feel as though you need a significant other to complete you, and I think this song provides us with a healthy reminder that this couldn't be further from the truth. Who doesn't want Selena Gomez to remind them of their self-worth every once in a while? She continues the theme of independence in "Look At Her Now", with the lyric: "She knows she'll find love, only if she wants it". I definitely think her music is a direct reflection of her growth as a person.
Beyond music, she currently has a cooking show on HBO Max and a makeup line called Rare Beauty. While I don't have HBO Max and therefore can't watch the show and have yet to try her makeup products, I've heard amazing things about them both, like how the blush has amazing pigment (for all my non-makeup users, this is a good thing), so hopefully I can get some of her products soon!
Seriously can't wait to see what the future holds for Selena.
And, as always, thank you so much for reading and I'll write to you later. Bye!
HUGS,
Maddie
